PREPARE FOR YOUR TATTOO

Whether you’ve decided to get a tattoo or you’re still trying to decide; these are some helpful hints to insure you know what to expect and how to prepare.

Come in on a full night's sleep - It is important to come to your appointment well-rested from the previous night.

Come in well fed and hydrated - Before you come to the studio, you'll want to ensure you've had a filling breakfast and are well-hydrated. This is to reduce the possibility of low blood sugar levels which can result in dizziness and/or fainting.

Come in clean - It might seem to go without saying, but it is a MUST that you make sure to shower or bathe beforehand. Clean clothing, footwear and deodorant is a must!

Wear appropriate clothing for your tattoo - Please come in wearing clothing which provides easy access to the area being tattooed. Wear comfortable loose clothing that you don't mind getting potential ink stains on also.

Feel free to pack a bag with a few essentials to bring in with you, here's a useful checklist below:

  • Snacks and Drinks - We recommend to bring some snacks and drinks in to your appointment. We have a water cooler, fridge and a microwave if needed.

  • Headphones - Bring in a pair of headphones/earbuds if you plan to listen to your own music/podcast etc. Please be aware that the studio is a shared space and consideration of noise levels is paramount.

  • Charger - Please bring in a charger for your device to ensure you won't run out of battery over the course of the day.

  • Photo identification - Be prepared to provide photo identification if requested.

PREPARATION FOR THE SKIN

Moisturize - We recommend moisturizing the skin 1-2 x per day for up to 7 days leading up to your appointment. Please cease moisturizing one day prior to the day of your tattoo.

Shave - Feel free to shave the area to be tattooed the day prior to your appointment, however, be careful not to damage or cut the area.

Numbing Cream - Please discuss the use of this with your artist prior to the day of your appointment.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Do not show up intoxicated or under the influence of substances - It is illegal to tattoo anyone under the influence of alcohol or other substances. You will be turned away and lose your booking fee.

Do not show up with damaged skin - If you have any fresh cuts, bruises, burns, peeling or sunburn, your tattoo appointment may be postponed. If your skin has been previously tattooed, ensure that your artist is aware of this prior to booking your appointment.

Do not change your design/placement last minute - Please let your artist know of any changes well in advance of your appointment. If you change your mind at the last minute, be prepared to book a new appointment with the possibility of the forfeiture of any booking fees already paid.

Do not touch your tattoo during the process - Touching an open wound or any area of the artist's workstation may result in an infection and/or contamination.

Do not pressure your artist during your session - Please respect the artist's process - do not time-pressure or dictate how long the session should take or how it will run.
